Taking Care of Me

As a busy mom it is hard to remember to take time out for myself.  It is often almost impossible to do.  As a result I (and probably other moms out there) become frustrated and irritable.  I hate feeling this way and decided to do something about it.  I decided that for the next two weeks I am going to give myself a little treat everyday.  Don't misunderstand, I am not planning to buy myself elaborate gifts on a daily basis (especially in today's economy) but I will give myself a little something.  I began treating myself this past Tuesday and so far it is making me feel great.  I would love to hear how you treat yourself and if you haven't started doing so yet...now is as good a time as any to begin.

Once in a blue moon, and usually on a weekend where there are no birthday parties or family events, i send the kids away with my husband. He takes them to the park or for pizza. I stay home and take a long bath, watch a chick flick, nap, or read. Its just for a few hours but it makes such a big difference!

I signed up as a member of Massage Envy...they now have locations in most major cities. Once a month my membership entitles me to a massage. During times of added stress, I go in for a weekly one-hour massage. I usually do the massage at the end of the day when I done with putting the 'lil ones to sleep. I feel great when I get back home...absolutely stress free.

My mom told me, "if you don't take care of yourself, who will" and she was mostly right. My hubby does do a lot. But this valentines day, I asked for a tanning package. That is MY TIME. I drive slow there, slather up, put the headphones on with the ocean sounds turn on the bed and the fan.. and dream away 12-15 mins! It is great.

It is so true! We must take a little time out of each day for ourselves. I am doing 2 things. I am trying to wake up early and exercise using the wii! I realize that even if it is just for half an hour it makes me feel better- physically and psychologically as well!
The second thing is that when I cashed out my Spa day gift certificate around Mother'sDay, I bought the facial soap and cream. It has made such a difference on my skin! It is unbelievable!
To all Moms and busy women out there! Cheers!

Somehow I always have something for me in the "to do" list but it gets pushed to the bottom of the list and rolls from day to day!!
